We often look up to wealthy individuals and all we see is a content life with ample money and luxury to spend. This money definitely helps them in leading a quality and a great life, but it is never directly proportional to their intensity of happiness. This is because of the reason that money only provides materialistic happiness to individuals, whereas happiness in its purest form comes when the body and the mind are in complete harmony with each other. While money brings us short term happiness, on the other hand true happiness benefits people in the long run.

How happiness wins over money?

When we purchase, for instance, a couple of new denims or any expensive pair of shoes, it makes us happy at first. It is also likely that you will feel happy every time you wear those apparels and feel nice about yourself. But, think about the situation when you have taken off the denims or shoes at the end of the day. Does it still make you feel happy? What about the situation when these products will wear away? You will indeed go out and purchase new shoes and this initiates the cycle of searching happiness in these materialistic things. The truth is that happiness that comes via the binge of money is short lived and it is never enough to keep you cheerful in the long run.

People need to stop running behind money and understand that material assets are just temporary and remember the fact that the long term joy comes only from the things that we can’t purchase with money. The love you feel from your parents, the laugh of an infant baby, these are the things that are precious in its true sense and these make you feel happy beyond these material assets. A simple chat with your mother and a pleasant evening spent with the love of your life will bring you more joy and happiness than the time you spend in earning more money or in purchasing materialistic things.
