Today, Railways have launched facilities for booking of platform tickets as well as paperless unreserved tickets to cut the row at the reservation counters. Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu launched two mobile apps for passengers, through a video conference between the Rail Bhawan and New Delhi Station.

The Utsonmobile has been developed by the Centre for RIS (Railway Information Systems) for Android and Windows platform, in order to reduce the need for printing unreserved tickets at ATVMs (Automatic Ticket Vending via Messaging Service) in stations.

The application is designed in such a way that it is user friendly interface with features like book ticket book, maintain their profile, manage frequently travel routes, etc. Rail commuters can now use a mobile app to get the tickets in the unreserved category as the Indian Railways bring its proposal for paperless ticketing. A senior Railway Ministry has said that we are launching a mobile based paperless unreserved ticketing application. The paperless ticketing system is also intended at saving time for passengers as it allows them to avoid inside layer up at the ticket window.

  • After downloading this app, users will get a registration ID number for the creation of an E-wallet. Money for buying tickets will be loaded through the e-wallet, mobile payment system at a ticket counter at any station.
  • Passengers have the option to top up the e-wallet at ticket counters or on the IRCTC website using a credit and debit card

People booking unreserved tickets and people using online payments/Smartphone/ wallet represent two different segments in India. The common section between the two will be very less.

How to Book Unreserved Tickets Using UTS Android App by India Railway

First, you need to create or sign up an account. In the represent time filling the sign up provide you your valid mobile number, name, and city and identity card information. You need to provide me; I-Card details issued I card, PAN Card,  Aadhar Card, Voter Card Driving License, Passport, Student I-Card, credit card with photo. Once you have created the account a Railway Wallet will be created for free.

After successful booking of a ticket, you will get booked ID and other ticket details, but still you will not be able to make a journey with this ID or details. You need to print the ticket, here via ATVM by filling your mobile number and PNR number. Using this printed ticket you can make your journey.
